About Lingua — 50 words
Lingua is a commercial desktop code runner built for developers who juggle multiple languages in one day. JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, and Rust run inside one offline-first app with Monaco Editor, built-in developer utilities, snippets, and templates. Source-available, paid tiers unlock via offline-verified license keys.
About Lingua — 150 words
Lingua is a commercial multi-language desktop code runner. JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, and Rust are first-class citizens — each with its own runner, templates, and inline result panel — and they live inside the same offline-first Monaco-powered app. Developer utilities (JSON formatter, regex tester, Base64, UUID, hash, timestamp converter, JWT decoder, color converter, diff viewer) are built in, so the app replaces the half-dozen browser tabs that usually sit alongside a code runner. Snippets, project indexing, quick-open, project search, and customizable shortcuts keep the workflow fast. Paid tiers (Pro monthly, Pro Lifetime, Team per seat) unlock via a signed license key verified offline — no phone-home required. Education access is free for verified students and teachers. The repository is source-available for evaluation and contributor review under the Lingua Commercial License.
Founder bio — 40 words
I'm Johnny Young, the solo developer behind Lingua. I built the app after spending too many afternoons juggling browser tabs for Go, TypeScript, Python, and Rust snippets. Lingua pulls them into one Monaco-powered desktop app.
Founder bio — 100 words
I'm Johnny Young, the solo developer behind Lingua. I started building multi-language tooling because I wanted one desktop app that could run a Go snippet, a Python function, a TypeScript proof-of-concept, and a Rust benchmark without opening five different web playgrounds. Lingua is the result: a Monaco-powered code runner that treats each language as a first-class citizen, ships built-in developer utilities, and stays offline-first so it works on a plane. I'm releasing it as a commercial source-available product — paid tiers unlock via offline-verified license keys, education access is free.
Pricing
Four tiers — Free, Pro at $5/mo, Pro Lifetime at $59 one-time, Team at $3/seat/mo. Education is free for verified students and educators. See the full pricing page for what each tier unlocks.
Honest constraints
Things to flag in writeups, in fairness to readers:
- Lingua is source-available, not open source. Please don't describe it as MIT, Apache, or GPL.
- License keys are offline-verifiable — there is no phone-home or account check at launch time.
- Five languages run today. Seven more are tracked but not yet shipped.
- The desktop app runs fully offline. The web build needs network for the first page load.
